How do I get Wi-fi without an Internet Connection?
My computer broke a few month ago so I stopped my internet connection.Shortly after I received a Laptop. Now I have no exprience what so ever with laptops, so when I got it I didn't know a thing about Wifi.I still don't. Well I have asked a couple of times how I can get wifi but most say I need an Internet connection. Is there any other way? Because for the last few month I have been using an open wifi. I'm told that's not good for yoyr computer so I want to get my own.
Please exscuse my grammer mistakes I'm using a phone. Ads |

1) using your own wi-fi
2)Using someone else's Wi-Fi 1. In order to have your own wi-fi oyu need to buy an internet service from company like ATT,Comcast,Verizon e.t.c. You'll then need to buy a wireless router device in order to create wireless(wi-fi) signal in your home. Then you'll need to connect your laptop to your Wi-Fi and set up a security password so noone else can use it. 2. using someone else's Wi-Fi can be considered illegal in some states. It is also not good because if the owner of that Wi-Fi is a hacker,he can monitor your internet activity and steal your banking information ! The reason you can use someone else's wi-fi is becuase they forgot(or purposely did not) set up a security password. |

ok there are a few ways you can get wifi for your laptop.
You can get a prepaid usb insert which is great and allows you to budget you can also connect this way with plan but try before you buy is always good which is what prepaid amounts to. You can get a modem etc for wifi but if it is only one laptop I would strongly suggest going the above way. Neater, and you can take it anywhere the provider has internet coverage Using open internet is a security issue and not a good idea at all. Make sure you close it down before you set up your wi fi. |

Open Wifi just means you are using someone's Internet Connection, NOT your own.
= Open Wifi does not harm your computer, but may be considered Theft of Services. = IF you get your own Internet Connection, tell the Internet Service Provider you want Wifi. They may provide [or sell] you a wifi router or wifi modem/router. |
