How can I find information on this computer virus?
My Mom has been receiving a ton of spam e-mails recently, and almost all of them have something in common: They have a random name, and they link to a Twitter account by the name of "Aafection". We thought it was just a normal link, so she clicked on it, but then it re-directed her to a website with a bunch of letters and numbers for a name. At this point, we panicked, then a fake blue pop-up window appeared. Thinking it was real, my Mom clicked the X on it and the browser shut down and said something by the lines of "Warning!! your computer is infected! [sic]" in a pop-up window. At this point, I advised my Mom to turn off her computer immediately by holding down the power button. She reset her computer, only to find two random small Firefox windows to appear in the bottom and upper right corners of the screen. It then displayed the warning message again. After turning off her computer again, she scanned her computer with Avast, and it found a high severity virus. She moved it to the chest, and her computer worked normally again.

Does anyone know this virus or a similar one? I need to find some information on it.
EDIT: I do NOT want to know how to get rid of this virus or what type it is. I want to know the NAME of the virus, so I can Google it and find information on it.

Warning!! your computer is infected - this is a sign of malware (possibly System Tool or security tool )

Will free Malwarebytes run ?

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

How to tell you have malware ? you get a pop up saying "Warning!! your computer is infected", then a fake rogue anti-spyware program scans your PC telling you that you have viruses (which is fake) then the rogue anti-spyware program tells you to buy the program to remove the viruses (Don't), the name of the program it ask you to buy is the name of your Malware.

Also Download & Install CCleaner -> http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/

Run it and Go to Tools, Startup.. Disable Anything you KNOW You dont need.
Go to Tools, Uninstall.. Uninstall Anything you KNOW you dont need.
Then do 2 scans in sections.. Cleaner & Registry.. Remove Any Findings.

Hope it helps Smile
