How do I get my hair to its natural state?
Hello I'm a African American male wanting to know how to get my hair in its 100% natural state no products no nothing. Here is a example of what I'm trying to get my hair to be and look like.

As you can see his hair seems to be "locking" together naturally without any any products or someone locking his hair for him. I know someone told me simply to not comb my hair. I've tried that but it looks retarded after one day. Is there something I'm missing? Do I not wash my hair either? Please someone anyone help me. I just want my hair to be in a natural state so I don't have to do anything to it.

Thank you in advanced!

Those are actually natural dreads in the baby state, whoever told you to just stop brushing/combing was absolutely correct. Any hair will dread if kept clean and unbrushed. Natural dreadlocks don't happen overnight, and your hair will look crazy for a while before it locks up. The key to dreadlocks wether natural/free form like those, or if a starter method is used is patience. It takes months and years for dreads to mature and they are constantly changing. You just need to wash your hair whenever your scalp starts to get oily (dirty, greasy hair won't lock up). You need to use a good residue free or dreadlock shampoo, the residues left behind by normal shampoos build up and cause that awful wet dog smell. If you can't find any residue free/dreadlock shampoo you can use baking soda/apple cider rinses. I use liquid shampoo from dreadlockshampoo.com on mine and its the best stuff I've ever found, works great on every ethnicity, and even works in hard water.
