I don think so. Yahoo mail has huge customer base. Yahoo or any other service provider can not take this foolish step. By shutting down the email service they will loose many recurring visitors.

From the constant flood of complaints on Y's email in the Yahoo Products category, it sure seems Y is neglecting its email services.

But I think Y has ceded the search engine market to Google.

As for advertising, Y's making a major effort to improve the long-term lag in revenue there.

Pleasing the advertisers was a main reason for changing to the purple format.
