The police took my computer to check my FB?
I got in a fight on FB and the person claimed I made threats (Which I did not). Will the police be able to look at my FB IM's? Also, do you think they will look at anything else, or just messages and stuff. Will they be able to search things other than Facebook? They have no reason to look at anything but FB, so will they? Also, can I get on my FB right now or will I get in trouble?

They can not look at your IM's because facebook does not save them. However, the iother guy could copy and paste the IM's and keep them as evidence. Facebook does save messages and wall posts. They can search other things besides facebook such as your e-mail if they have a warrant to do so. You will not get in trouble for being on FB unless you have been told not to do so

Yes, they can check it. I wouldn't get on your Facebook though.
They will need a search warrant though. As long as you are innocent you have nothing to worry about. The other person can get in trouble for false claims though. |

Do you have the search warrant that they would have given you when they took your computer? It all depends on how the warrant is worded. The warrant might specifically say that it's for them to look at FB. Or, the warrant might be more vague, which would give them the power to search other things.

Lesson learned. Don't use Facebook, or at least be careful.
I would just sit tight, and hope for the best. If you're really "innocent", don't worry. |
