if you deactivate, everything will still be there, but if you delete, it will all be deleted

At first, How are you deleting your Facebook?
Are you talking about deactivating?
If yes then it will go, but you can anytime log in and reactivate your account and everything will be back again as it was

Edit :- If you want to delete permanently, I know only one way..i.e to change your D.O.B
make your year of birth 2008 or something and you will get message you are too young and hence it will be permanently deleted with that email id

No. Everything is still there. People just can't send you friend requests, message you, write on your wall, or cause any kind if notifications. If you go back to Facebook and login as usual your Facebook will reactivate.

Very smart person I wouldn't have facebook to start with it spells trouble
