Does internet connection affect video lag?
While streaming online videos, i notice a few lag spikes during some scenes and slow buffering on some videos. Is it my computer or my internet connection?

Most Likely your internet connection, there isn't anything you can do about it really, only thing to do is wait for the video to load. Smile

connection can have alot to do with your problem you don't say what your connection speed is but there are other factors that also effect your lag such as how busy is the server how far away is the server and of course connection speed

Your internet connection definitely has an effect but it is not the only factor.
Processor speed, which browser you're using and which streaming technology you're using (e.g. Flash, Silverlight, Quicktime) also play a role. Also if you have a lot of network traffic going on (e.g. you're downloading large files etc...) it could definitely slow down your streaming.
Slow buffering usually means either you or the website has a slow connection OR either you or the website has too much network traffic going on.

Hope this helps

It depends what type of computer you have. If its an old one then its probably the computer. As long as your computer is connected to the internet server there shouldn't be many problems with the internet. Most of the time is the computer. Unless you have a laptop and you're using a WiFi connection. Then it might be that the WiFi has a weak connection which makes the internet go slow.

It can be your connection, but it is most likely that the website that you are getting the video from is very busy. This happens a lot on sites like YouTube or Megavideo
