All wayz get the fastest Internet you can afford since no one likes to wait to do things. So if you can afford the fastest Internet get it. However you will want to get a high speed connection and not dial-up. Do not get anything slower than 10Mbps however if you can afford it get the fastest residential service they provide. Faster is all wayz better.

I think speed upto 2Mbps or 4Mbps is good.
If you dont need to download anything at all then go for monthly 2 GB plans of 2Mbps speed at rs.500-550 etc. If you want to download many videos or view videos online, then go for unlimited plans available at rs.750 etc. Always broadband is better if you use Intrnet mostly at home. Bsnl provides wide range of such schemes.

For what you are doing 1 megabit is probably sufficient at the moment, but it depends on whether you intend to start using streaming services such as internet TV or youtube. That's where the speed really matters.

You really don't need much bandwidth for facebook, emails or ebay - assuming you don't mind waiting a few seconds for an email to download.

It is downloading video or sending/receiving large photos or backing up to cloud storage which requires a lot of speed. Games often need bandwidth because of the video content.

agree w/ 2 Megs download speed. I have that for uses like yours.

my upload is .5 meg. costs me $40mo via Clear Wire in Delaware valley, USA, north east.

My ping is abt 90.

Got an offer from Verison fiber optic for $30/mo for supposed 15meg/7meg, + modem/router rental @ $5./mo,

+ POSSIBLE $70 ACTIVATION FEE !!!,

+equip charges, taxes, assessments, any install fees/charges.

That,s IF customer has the fiber already installed.

& that,s for 2 yr contract.

to buy outa contract, $10 more per mo.

You can do with 1 mbps. You can upgrade your plan later on when you feel your internet is slow or want to have a faster internet experience.

I used a 1.5 Mbps connection for several years and it was fine for e-mail, facebook, etc.
