If you want the green format, download the add-on User Agent Switcher for Firefox/Chrome. Then switch the setting to IE 7.

Websites will identify your browser as Internet Explorer 7 when you're really using Firefox/Chrome. This allows you to circumvent the purple format and use the green one because IE 7 is outdated and does not support some of the new shiny graphical features of the purple format.

To get the green format on Internet Explorer, click ALT then click the Tools button and select Compatibility View Settings, if Yahoo.com isn't already on there, type it on there and apply.
You should have the green format.

Click on tools.
Click on Compatibility View Settings
When the box comes up, type yahoo.com in the box.
Click on add.
Click on close.
