why does my internet access window list other users that are not connected to my wireless router but listed?

I have the following:
My Internet code
internet access
Wireless Network Connection
XXXxxQQQ (not my real id) Connected (signal strength graph)

Name: XXXxxQQQ (not my real id)
Signal Strength Excellent
Security Type: WPA2-PSK
Radio Type: 802.11g
SSID: XXXxxQQQ (not my real id)

then underneath mine is another user I don't know but is still listed, sometimes 2 or more are listed with the following information:

Gonzalez with same security type and radio type and ssid is Gonzalez and signal strength is good

I wish I knew if this other user is getting into my computer or getting internet access for free

Should I notify AT&T internet Services and let them know about these other users listed users under me?

Or, does the list of other users on line using wireless routers get listed just because they are in the same service area and close to my residence?

I have never been given the answer I am looking for so far. Thanks in advance.

Windows will list all available nearby networks. That doesn't mean they're connected to your network, it's just another connection within range of your computer. That's all it is.

I used to NOT see others on the side of window when connected but now I do. Nothing to worry about, just near by connections but not to your network.

You want to know what other wireless users are nearby, because if there are a lot of them, it could interefere with your own network.

Wireless is radio and the different signals can interefere enough with each other that your router and wireless receiver in your computer can't make sense of the data they are receiving.

You already have WPA2 encryption enabled.

Look at the URL for this question; it begins with https

That means the entire webpage is encrypted. So even if someone was copying the data sent between your computer and the router, they can't make sense of it.

Most webpages do not use https as the encryption adds more work for their servers and thus slows down their servers.
