find the tool icon and look for "about Internet explorer"

ps. I recommend you switch to chorme .

Depend on the version of explorer that you are using. In the lastest versions they use a gear icon in the right top part, or you can Alt-X to get fast to the tool menu, then choose "about internet explorer" for older versions, may be an "about menu" or something like that... but always search for About" thats the key. Also you can go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on/off and you will find the version of your explorer installed, this way doesnt give the decimal amount of the version btw.
