How do employers track you down on social networking sites?
I know you can just type in a persons name on Facebook and if their privacy settings allow it, anyone may view it. When someone has the settings on private, do employers get special authorization or something to view any profiles they wish to see or is it restricted to them as well. Like do they have a special system that can reveal all your internet activity automatically regardless of your privacy settings.

If they actual care enough about it they usually outsource to a data collection firm that uses whatever of your personal information they have at their disposal and use various search techniques to find out more.
Just because you have your page settings as private, any other user that mentions you or any posts you make on a public page will still be visible. There are small businesses now that are paying high school kids cash in hand to do this for them. Ads |

Usually through another co-worker that is on your friend list, usually it's a company snitch fronting as a "friend" but really isn't. I have also heard that some employers have actually demanded the log-in infor for an employees Facebook account. Watch what you post....and whom ye befriend.
