whats up with forum trolls?

everyone has joined 1 or a few different forums in their lives and there is always 1 -2 main people that always have a way with words and like to troll others .
why do they do it whats the purpose of it and what do they get out of it ? why do they make it miserable for the rest of the good people using forums ?

It's a feeling of satisfaction. When someone posts a rather irrelevant post on a thread, causing heated response(s), it brings up a feeling of success or joy in whoever is responsible for it.

People are assholes in real life and more so online.
