How to convince my dad to let me have an iPhone 4S?
For the longest time I've wanted an iphone, but my dad thinks people of my age don't need smart phones, and my mom thinks it's too expensive which doesn't make sense because the allowance I get every month is enough to pay for the whole bill. I even went on AT&T's website and saw what plans would best suit me, and it came out to $90 a month, which I can pay for on my own. I'll even buy the device and cases etc. I understand that my dad thanks I'm just a teenage girl (14) who will spend all her money once she sees clothes she likes, but I wouldn't do that if I had the responsibility of the phone. Basically how can I convince them athat I can handle/pay for the phone.. I've seriously considered writing an essay or something like that lol....

You're 14. I just got my first iPhone 5, and I'm 27. I didn't even have a cell phone at your age. Do you really need an iPhone? Why? So you'll look cool? You really have that much going on that you need a smart phone. You know you just want it because of twitter and Facebook. Oh and not to mention all the stupid pictures you'll make on Instagram. I am with your parents on this one.

Here's the thing, you likely can't convince your dad to do anything. You are 14 years old and you're probably not even thinking of hidden charges you can get from too much data roaming. Yes, you might be able to handle the bill, but if you go over it, it's going to fall to your parents to pay it. Overage charges are rough. Wait until you're at least 16 and you can get a job. Trust me, there's going to be something far more amazing than the 4S in a few years.
