Why should businesses have blogs?
My question is Why do businesses have blogs? As a business stand point everything has got to turn out some kind of profit, right? Why are people pushing out how important blogs are for your business? My dad doesn't have one and doesn't think it's important. What's the big deal about a blog anyway?

Have a blog that get visitors from Goggle and other search engines is like having a treasure of money, with a blog you can advertise your business to thousands of propel who comes to your blog posts from Google.
Every business owner should think about starting his own blog, it replaces thousands of dollars of advertising with ad companies, all you have to do is writing good articles about a topic related to your business, with an attractive title and publish them, after some days search engines will index that article and send visitors to your blog, now imagine if you have Hundreds of good articles that brings targetted visitors from search engines, you can easily bring thousands of customers every day who search for something related to your business, so a blog is a power that you can't replace with anything else, but the challenge is to be patient with a blog, it needs from 6 months to a year to get thousands of visitors.

So many reasons actually. One, it brings personality. Two, it's giving back to your customers. Three, it's a great way to build relationships. Four, you become a resource. Five, a free way to remind people of your business.

They can be good for business, yes. However - if you don't create posts for it on a regular basis it is completely useless. It is something you do have to keep up with, and be able to write comprehensively - doensn't have to be perfect but there is nothing worse on a blog to see it poorly written. This can chase folks away.

A business blog can serve many purposes. You can share updates regarding your products and services that can help you in attracting potential clients looking for same products and services. A blog compliments your website well if used efficiently specially for small businesses that offer products or services that are little known about to a common person.
