Best Laptop for High School?
I am going to buy a laptop for my sophomore year of highschool, and I don't know what laptop to buy. I am not getting a macbook, because my budget is under $700. I am either thinking of getting a Samsung Chromebook 2 (but it currently isn't out yet) or a windows laptop. I want a Chromebook because we use some Google apps at school, and they seem simple, inexpensive, and have good specs (at least the Samsung Chromebook 2 does). I want a windows laptop because I can have itunes, word, (even though we used Google docs this year) and other things that a Chromebook can't do. And it doesn't rely on being online the whole time. Please give me some laptops UNDER $700 or so that are great for school and other personal stuff with good specs (preferably Chromebooks or windows laptops). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

you will regret getting a chrome book.i recommend win 7 not win 8.win 8 is a disaster. and i wouldnt use ms word, its a waste of money. fewer and fewer people use ms office for that reason. i use kingsoft office free.automatically saves files in office format.im gonna recommend this laptop. contact me if you need more help. jdbj32m@yahoo.com

While you are correct about iTunes and MS Word being unavailable on a Chromebook, it isn't true that you "have to be online the whole time". With a one-time setup process, Google Docs will work offline, as well as some of the other Google Drive apps. And a growing number of the apps in the Chrome Store have offline support. Take an honest look at the things you would do on a Windows computer without an internet connection. For a growing number of people, it's a very short list (or even an empty list).
