How to not see what people comment on Facebook?

So for instance, I always see, "so-and-so commented on this." And then below is the link, or photo, or status they commented on. I dont want to see that if it has nothing to do with me. I only want to see stories about people commenting on my posts, or people commenting on posts I have commented on/liked. Also, is there a way to make it so that others can't see random things I comment on?

go to your friend's profile and uncheck the "following" part if you dont want to see what that person's activities are. there is no other way

and the only way to prevent others from seeing things you comment on is to add those people to your restricted list and then they wont be able to see your likes and comments
