You need hub,switch or router.

Most allow only 1 ip. A simple hub or switch will not be enough, you'll find that one will work and tihe other will not.

A router (like a wifi router) uses the single IP from the cable end and assigns private ips on the switch/wifi end. When traffic is generated output, the router changes the ip so it looks like it comes from the router through network address translation or NAT. That way, you can have multiple devices that look like one IP.

That's what routers are for.

There are two ways around this problem.

1) Assuming your existing connection to your computer uses Ethernet, then you need a 'home' router with an Ethernet WAN/Internet port. You might have to configure your ISP's login user name and password into the router so that it will log on to your ISP service. You also need to make sure that the sub-net coming from your cable connection is different from the sub-net that the router is offering to your computers. Connect your computers by Ethernet (or wireless if it is a wireless router) to the router.

2) Turn on Internet Connection Sharing in the computer that you already have connected to the Internet. The computer will need at least two network adapters such as an Ethernet and wireless or two Ethernet adapters. You connect the second computer two the first computer using either wireless or Ethernet as appropriate. If you are using Ethernet, then you will need a cross-over cable. The first computer is acting as a router for the second computer.

I hope this helps.
