Does this method of lucid dreaming work?

I found this on a Facebook page on my news feed.

or

I looked at the comments and they say not to do it.
Also, what is "sleep paralysis"?

Thanks

Honestly this method seems a little difficult to do. I mean just because you ignore the impulses to move itch etc does not mean you will go into sleep paralysis. Also anytime ive woken up in Sleep paralysis I cant control what I see or hear and for some reason my brain always goes to DARK SCARY places nothing fun or exciting.

There are a lot of other methods that dont have to involve invoking SP. Just google Lucid dreaming methods. I believe wiki has a lot of them in detail.

Try jumping into the air a few times a day when nobody is around. Do this daily. After three to four weeks, if you've been consistent, you'll have a dream where you jump into the air. But in dreams, we don't just drop back to the ground, we float back down. Then you'll know you're in a dream.
