How do I get people to register on my website? and start bidding? Any Marketing Tips?
Hello,
I've been trying to figure out how to get people to register on my website blackhawkvideogames.com, I understand that people are concerned with that it is a penny auction website, as I too have lost tons of money on other bid sites. But I run mine completely different, if people lose an auction they will be able to use the lost bids as payment for won items, I also have a secondary option where people can receive a gift card to use on a "buy now" style website instead of using the bids to pay for won items.
With that being said my questions are:
1. How do I go about getting people to sign up for my website, I've tried twitter + facebook as marketing tools.
2. What pages should I create that will allow more people to be willing to register and start bidding?
3. What other ideas should I present so people are more comfortable with bidding on my site?

By the way I've used special offers allowing people to try out the service but it doesn't seem to do anything. Currently I've tried 5 Free Bids for Registering, 5 Free Bids for buying any bid package, 10 Free Bids for referrals (once referrals buy a bid package).
What else do I need to try out?

Any help in getting people interested in my website and what I have to offer would be great.

well, thats just great. i typed out a 4 paragraph long answer with loads of information, and it didnt get posted Sad
anyway, heres a summary of what i had written:
1: make it available for more countries, like France, IRELAND, all of europe, etc.
2: introduce a referral system where when you refer someone, you might get a few extra bids.
3: Allow the first few members to actually win something. this way, they will tell their friends about "this amazing site that gives you free stuff".
4: have more live auctions. having only 1 live auction doesnt look very appealing, and looks like it could be a scam.
5: reduce the timers on auctions. people, even if they register, will not bid on things when the timer is at more than a day. if the timer was shorter, people would be more eager to bid.

hope this helps!

lol, please make it available to ireland Big Grin it would so suck if i won an auction and you couldnt ship it :/
