facebook help???????

If I want to support a cause or play a game in FB the application wants access to my information. I assume for marketing purposes but I don't want to give them access. Why do they do this?

It's just so they can put your name and your friend's names on the game. It's nothing bad.

They need to access certain info so they have rights to post to your page! Its like a one time permission thing! Also certain apps send you updates via email so that why they ask that as well! I suggest if it bothers you that much is to set up a secondary Fb account with little personal info for just gaming and such,

Don't worry, they're not using your information for marketing purposes. They're using it for advertising purposes as they access certain information which would give them the right to post on your wall and a few of your friends wall saying that you've just started playing a certain game or started using a certain application. Don't worry, facebook wouldn't allow apps or games to use your information for marketing purposes without them telling you about it.
