Video Search Engine Optimisation SEO what are the benefits?

An Online Video Production Company in London has suggested that they can get my video search engine optimised. My website is well positioned on Google. This company and the guy who did my SEO were not very clear with the benefits of doing this to my online videos. Any help on this would be great - especially as it costs!

If they make a high-quality VIRAL video, then it could definitely help you with SEO efforts. Imagine if they created fantastic video about your company/website and put it on youtube, where it could get millions of views! You should ask them to provide an example of their work, regarding SEO and video production.

There are two benefits. First, YouTube is now the second largest search engine, larger than Yahoo or Bing. By optimizing your YouTube video you gain the benefit of a lot more people likely to find it.

Secondly, Google shows video results in their normal search engine results. An optimized video is more likely to show in the search engine results, which means that you can control more of the search engine results page.

It's worth noting that video SEO is not terribly different from regular SEO -- you just need a good and long text description for your video, and then appropriate links pointing to it. If your site is already ranking well for the searches that matter, the benefit of having your videos show up highly is probably small, but definitely there. Depending on the kind of product/service you're offering, having it rank well in YouTube searches could be substantial, or mostly meaningless.
