Internet connection Sharing. Share a wireless internet connection through ethernet?

I have an xp sp3 desktop that connects to the internet through a wireless connection.

I have a vista sp1 laptop that I want to connect to my desktop with an ethernet cable to utilize the existing wireless connection the desktop.

I dont know how!

whenever i enable Internet connection sharing on the desktop it losses its IP address within the wireless network.

I am also having difficulty getting the laptop to assign itself an IP within the ethernet network to the desktop.

Help Please!

Make sure both machines are members of the same workgroup (ie. are both on the same subnet range). Once they are on the same subnet you will be able to share an Internet connection.
