It kind of depends on what is meant by taper fade, sort of a redundant term. A fade is an extremely short taper on the back and sides. All fades are tapers. All tapers are not fades. There are short, semi-short, medium, long and extra long tapers. Fade clippers adjust to leave between 1/125" and 1/50" of hair on the head. So yes, if this is what is meant by taper fade, the sides and back can be tapered extremely short.
