Ok, so I see there's a lot of controversy and quite discrimination in japan against tattoos, like you can't get inside and onsen bath or in a pool or even inside a gym if you have a tattoo, so I was wondering if there's any campaign IN japan fighting for ending this discrimination.

No. Mainly only Yakuza types wear tattoos. It's not " discrimination ".
Most Japanese are more secure with themselves and don't need " look at me " tattoos like so many Americans do.

First of all, here is a useful website:
http://tattoo-spot.jp/
The site is in Japanese (if you use google chrome, then you could get it translated), but it lists all the locations of onsens, pools, saunas, etc. that actually do allow people with tattoos.

Second of all, tattoos really aren't as common in Japan as they are in the states so I think it would be hard to find a large group of people who is fired up about any discrimination.
It's not like people don't get them because they're afraid of discrimination. Most people in Japan don't even want one.

I'm Japanese. why do foreigners have rights to protest to other countries cultures? and we don't care foreigners wear tatoo.

add
we don't discriminate foreigners who wear tatoo. but Japanese who wear tatoo are almost yakuza. so many public bath and pool prohibit it. anyway if you don't like Japanese way, please don't come to Japan. this problem is solved. and we Japanese hate who protest Japanese cultures such as whaling. if it means discrimination. we are discrimination ideologist. we don't care. we don't live in your countries cultures.

None that I know of. But I'm with you. Discrimination has to stop.
It just goes to show how insensitive to human right things the Japanese society really is. Either way, the Olympics are coming, along with lots of tattooed athletes, and the Japanese government is going to have to do something about it. Or else the world would say how backward of a country Japan is.

No, I don't think so. The non-gangster young people with tattoos are not politically engaged, so they are unlikely to start a "movement" for tattoo rights. The gangsters with tattoos have to live being gangsters regardless, so they are not going to make an issue of tattoos.
