Internet Networking Help?

Hello, i need someone's help on this. My router is acting a little weird lately. For some reason, if I try to mess with the router (Turning it off/on again, rewiring the cables, etc.) My desktop does not seem to be getting any Internet (It's wired), but the one in the basement does, WiFi works also. But if I mess with it a bit more, it turns my internet wiring on, the basement computer internet on, but WiFi doesn't work. Here is a connection tree:


Modem---Router1(Main)---Router2(WiFi+Basement Computer)---Router3 (Mines)

Sorry, I forgot to tell you that Router 1 acts like a normal router, but router 2 and 3 act like ports, extending the ethernet wire around the house

You have 3 routers? Why?

The easiest way to do this is to have router 1 be the only device operating as a router.

Router 2 should be configured as an Access Point, meaning you connect router 1 to router 2 via the LAN ports on each (don't use the WAN port on router 2 or 3) and you need to turn DHCP off on router 2.

Connect router 3 to router 2 just like you connected router 2 to router 1. On router 3 you also want to have DHCP turned off.

On routers 2 and 3 you want to give them static IP addresses from the address range on router 1.

Typical consumer router uses 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.0.254 as the address range.

Router 1 will be 192.168.0.1, this is your default gateway address (regardless of which router you connect to).
Router 2 might be 192.168.0.2 and router 3 192.168.0.3.

Your dynamic IP address assignments would start with 192.168.0.4.

Unless your need wifi from router 3 you could just get by with a very inexpensive hub which would require no configuration - just plug it in.
