What is the logic behind prayer?

Very well put by Astrid. This is just to add that God calls us to prayer as His pre-wi-fi instant communication with Him. And it is primarily to worship Him. We express our love for God in prayer, our appreciation for Jesus and our fellow believers. We ask God to help those who are crying out to Him in their need while, at the same time, being willing to BE the answer to such prayers. We effectively pray, "Lord, here am I! Send me!"

That is the kind of prayer that God delights in and responds to. The Bible is full of such prayers. And miracles of grace abound where the prayer of faith is uttered in accord with God's will. Many prayers are our efforts to find out the practical outworking of God's will, you see. We are the ones who benefit from persistent prayer. We draw closer to God. We then stand a chance of actually hearing what God would have us hear. And when our prayers are purely to worship God (nothing being asked at all), our hearts and souls are filled with joy and peace.

That, of course, is utterly illogical to those who imagine God is just a letter box to post our demands to. AiH

1Ch 4:10 Jabez prayed to the God of Israel and said, "I pray that you would bless me and give me more land! Be near me and don't let anyone hurt me! Then I will not have any pain." God gave Jabez what he asked for.

Do the math. It's not complicated.
