How do you get more followers on twitter?

Okay, so i am new to twitter and its all new and confusing right now. I'm startng to get the hang of it but one major question I have is....how do you get people to follow you? I looked up this question and some answers i got were to tweet alot, but how do people see these tweets? I mean, i dont see other peoples tweets, except the people i folloe. Can someone please explain? I find it very confusing.

Without following loads of others:
Loads of retweets of celebs
Reply to celebs (preferbaly those with loads of followers)
Use hashtags in tweets i.e. one about tennis use the hashtag #tennis
Whilst you dont have many followers just tweet loads and loads so when people start following they think you tweet a lot.

or sign in with twitter on twiends.com and follow like 100 people and get like 3 hundred followers back. does mean you get loads of rubbishy tweets tho!!

I use a website called twiends: http://twiends.com/me/KrAzY_aFrIcAN you basically sign up then you have choices of either buying followers, waching youtube videos, following people or referring people. When you follow someone you earn seeds from them, and vica versa when they follow you. You can decide how many seeds you want to offer per follow, and when you run out you remain on the list so people can still follow you if they like. its really good when i first made a twitter i was dedicated to getting followers and in a week i had over 800 but i ended up deleting it because i really never used it. I got back on today and got about a 100 followers. you just have to put in time to get the results that you want...hopes this helps!

just ask like all your friends if they have twitters, or like if you have a facebook make your status "follow me on twitter" or something like that and then put your twitter name. I've seen a lot of people do that before. and if you have other sites like tumblr, this (yahoo answers), myspace, etc. that you use a lot, put your url on there too.

You just have to follow as much people as you can, if they see that you are reliable and helpful to them, they will follow you back. The secret is to tweet useful and helpful things to other people. I like tweeting inspiration quotes for my followers. I get free inspirational quotes here http://mysocialinspiration.com/, I really do not have to think about anything.
