How on Earth do I get rid of snap.do on Google chrome?!?
I am a frequent user of Google chrome (Version 33.0.1750.154 m) but recently I was on a website that I fully trust and have trusted for over a year when a pop up appeared saying my Java needed updating. Considering Java ALWAYS needs updating I thought no less of it and clicked update. Java seems to have updated just fine but now I have the search engine 'snap.do' and no matter what I try, it WILL NOT go away.

I googled how to get rid of it and did the usual go to control panel, uninstall the programme and then go to settings in Google chrome and change all the defaults etc. I completed all these tasks and it was still there when I opened a new tab.

I looked at a youtube tutorial (which essentially told me the same stuff) and saw a comment saying it disguised itself as 'Shopping Helper' in control panel. So I uninstalled that from my control panel too thinking I'd sussed it.

Nope, snap.do is still there each time I open a new tab and I can't find any more solutions anywhere. I don't want to have to download any new programmes in order to get rid of this in case the same thing happens with something else.

Does anyone out there at all have any idea on how to get rid of this pesky virus?! Please help Sad

P.S. I keep getting pop ups from some things when I click around normal websites like Facebook or Sporcle. Installed AdBlockerPlus and that seems to have stopped that problem but if anyone has any better ideas let me know.

ANY HELP IS GOOD HELP PLEASE HELP ME Sad

This might work but click those 3 horizontal lines under the X button then a drop down menu should appear. Then, click on history. After that, click on extensions and disable any extensions you have active

Java is an untrustworthy item and is considered a security risk - as you've discovered! You shouldn't use it at all and always deny any offered updates. Go into settings and disable Java completely.

You may trust the site but it seems they have betrayed your trust!

In the browser settings go to your home page settings and delete anything that mentions snap or snap do.

Now re-boot the computer, ie switch off the power, wait 20 seconds then power it back up again.

Re-check the browser settings that you have just changed and make sure that snap do has gone.

To fix the problem, you could totally get rid of snap.do if you could fully delete Google Chrome from your computer. And the re-install Chrome. snap.do is annoying as ask.com search engine. You can't not delete snap.do by manual. But you could fully remove snap.do from Chrome if you follow the ask.com removal guides in the video below.
