Can you play downloaded Steam games without the internet?

I want to download Skyrim and go out and play it. Do I have to have internet to login to Steam to play it?

you need to log-in first then set play offline

No If its downloaded you can play it at anytime, unless its multiplayer online obviously

You have to be online to log in and then put Steam in Offline Mode. After that, you don't need to be online.

well no, just download the game and then when you don't have internet. click on the shortcut for the game and the log in menu would appear. you would see "start in offline mode" just click it and you will play fine.

Skyrim does not require an internet connection to play. Nor does Steam, that is if you don't want access to in-game multiplayer, or the community/friends options on Steam. If no internet is detected, Steam will prompt you to exit or start in offline mode. If you're already logged in, it will automatically switch you to offline mode.
