I'm a girl with no prom date or close friends....what to do?

Hey, so I'm sorta shy and I talk to some people in school, but I don't consider anyone in school a close friend, and I don't have a cohesive group/clique that I can go with.

I also don't have a date! Woe is me. Prom is in early May and I'm wondering what I should do? I have NO guy friends because I'm so shy, it's already a challege to talk to other girls! I'm wondering if it'd be weird if I asked a guy I barely knew? Like if I started talking to him now, then asked him in 2-3 weeks?

Tell me what to do to get a last minute date so I can save face at prom & I'll adore you eternally. I know I sound so thirsty haha, and I'm really not, I just don't want to miss such an important night in my high school career.

I was in the same boat you are a few years ago.
I had no guy; my friends turned into backstabbers a week before prom.
It sucked; because I bought a really hot dress, I had an appointment to get my make up done, professionally at MAC.

And in the end, I decided to not go; I didn't feel like having a shitty prom with a fight or something stupid.

And I look back, now, and really wish I had just done it. All the guys would've been watching me; all my bitchy friends would've been jealous as ****.
If I had the confidence I have now, back then, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.
Let's put it this way; you only get to go once, usually, and when you look back, you'll be glad you did.

Hahaha loved how you said you sound so thirsty. Wasn't going to answer this then I saw that and laughed and changed my mind. The thirst is real!

Anyway NO it wouldn't be weird at all to start talking to a guy you barely know! That's why you are talking to him right? to get to know him better? Since you're shy it might be tough just to walk up to someone like that, so just start off by talking on facebook cause that is way easier and you will definitely get a chance to know him better. BUT if you do decide to go and talk to him in person that would be wicked. I always hated making the first move with girls, its just easier when they just come up and talk to you haha, and it honestly really makes you appreciate their confidence, and its also really flattering to know that she chose you out of everybody. So if you can do that, you are set. But back to your original question, if you talked to a guy for 3 weeks and him that would not be weird at all, just make it clear that you're only going as friends so you don't weird him out. And if you don't end up talking to him, remember, its not about who you GO to prom with its about who you go HOME with haha joking obviously.. but really worst case scenario just get trashed at the after party and take it from there! anyway good luck! you seem nice so I really hope this all works out for you!

You should just go up to or message a boy you have spoke to before, and ask him. the worst he can do is say no. There you should just try find someone else. Someone may even ask you, you never know. May is still far away so you have plenty of time. Its time to grow some courage and step out your comfort zone to get what you want because in the end it will be worth it!
