Does loading a hand coded web site in the public html folder affect SEO?
Hello, I just changed my site from a "content management" site -wordpress/joomla etc. to a hand coded css site and loaded the css site in the public html folder-- does this affect SEO , should I load in the WWW folder instead for SEO , is the public html folder just for php and content mangement?
http://www.santacruzwatershed.net that's cool everyone thanx for taking time to answer my question, i thought the change from CM to css would affect - in time - or some php aspect, I lost my seo tools at blue host anyways and plan to switch to go daddy, those "attactica" seo tools on blue host ruled, what a loss, oh well, thanx again. you'd better modify some code here and there.

The type (or absence) of CMS should not affect SEO whatsoever. As long as the HTML is clean and you have good content, then you should have no problem whatsoever.
Additionally, Google, Bing, and the likes are not able to tell (nor do they care) where your website is stored at. Source: We work on websites at http://www.itoctopus.com |

I dont think it would affect your SEO as long as your content and keywords are still the same. Hal Smith
