What cheapest way possible to get hard internet connection to old computer with out wifi. Computer is not near modem connection. Can a telephone jack be used in anyway? Maybe stupid question but not tech savvy and a little naive. I had dial up internet years ago and wonder how a telephone jack can be used for connection in that way. I had simple thinking that I could plug modem into telephone jack and pass internet connection to other devices from other telephone jacks. Is this in anyway possible?

Get an Ethernet cable. They sell them at just about any retailer. On the back of your desktop or side of your laptop there will be a place where this cable will fit there will also be a spot on the back of your modem or router where the other end of this cable will fit. If you have none of these things talk to your local Internet Service provider and they should be able to furnish you with the equipment and help you set it up (for money of course)

Do the computer have built -in wireless network adpater? If so, you can connect it to the cable and free download My WIFI Router, this software will turn your laptop into a hotspot, thus other devices can share the internet over wifi. And if your computer is desktop, you need to buy one external USB adapter first.

Hello,

I think that you are going to need to get a newer technology faster frequency wireless access point not a router. I use Cisco wi-fi at my house. Never has any issues with this box and works well 200 feet away. (easy to set up as well) Worth every penny for me. This will do exactly what you want it to do at a great price for quality and performance.

Another option is to use the Ubiquiti nanostaion loco m2 ~$50.00 and plug it in directly to your PC's Ethernet.
