If I delete everything in the about me section on my facebook page, will I be on my friends "recently updated" friends list?
I don't want it to show up

Yes, You will appear on recently updated list. I'm sorry but there is no way to control that. You can change the option on privacy so It will not appear on News Feed but on the recently updated list you'll be for sure
