ps3 internet connection?
Hi, I just bought myself a ps3 and i'm wanting it connected to the internet, the problem is though my ps3 is upstairs and the pc is downstairs so what would I need to get them connected? An idiots guide would be really helpful to me, please. Or ... is there any way I can get a seperate internet connection upstairs with my ps3 WITHOUT having to get a new pc. Thanks for your answers.

Do you have a wireless router? If you do the 60 gig ps3 comes with built in wifi and you could connect that way.

Well, you really only have 2 options.

1. Run an ethernet cable from your internet connection to your PS3.

or

2. Purchase a router so you can go wireless. You can pick up a good one for about $60 bucks. Put the router with your modem and computer downstairs and then you can let your PS3 pick up the wireless connection.

Well if you have a wireless router you can connect that way as the PS3 is wifi and you can pick up a router quite cheap these days or you can buy a 50 meter Ethernet cable if you shopped around a bit their wouldn't be much price difference apart from the huge cable running down your staircase

You can get a wifi usb output ($39) for your PC so the pc sends a signal to the PS3's wifi... THen run network set up on the ps3 select wifi and put your settings in.....Make sure you set up security though because your bandwidth could be shared with neighbors causing lag during game play....
