sharing internet connection?
I've a desk top pc with internet connection through a local service provider,my roommate wants to tap on my account to access the internet through his lap top,how can i do this? Thanks

He can directly plug into your machine via ethernet (and set internet connection sharing). Or, you can just get a router, and create a wifi network.

Get a router. You can get a good WiFi router for under $100 and they are really simple to set up.

this is only possible if your computer has a wireless card*
what this does is takes the internet in from lan and turns it into wifi using your ireless card also, not all computers can use lan and wifi at the same time. start> connect to> show all connections> right click on your lan internet> properties> advanced> allow others to connenct through my internet connection. this should also help its a cnet video that demonstrates how to do it http://www.cnettv.com/9742-1_53-28619.html |
