Why do people follow you to unfollow you on Instagram?

Am I the only one who don't get that. Do they feel as if they are to good to keep you on their following list, or is it just a popularity contest.? I feel like it's stupid and pointless because most people notice when one of their followers are missing and besides they have the unfollow app? Do they not lack enough common sense to know these things or are they just stuck up lol? And also do these people realize that you lose more followers that way and if not that, you don't gain as many likes.

I'm just curious.

They follow you so you can follow back and then unfollow you because they never wanted to follow you in the first place, they just wanted you to follow them

some people are just douchebags, when u follow them back they would unfollow just to prove to others that they have a lot of followers
