Does LinkedIn really limit charachters?

Been about a year since I posted on LinkedIn. Don't do it much but I don't remember it limiting how much I could write. On my last post it said I had exceeded the limit (I forget, 200 or 20) so I had to cut it down. This piece of info: I was sharing an article from a journal and I was using a "share on LinkedIn" button on my toolbar to post.

Is it that button that limits or are all posts limited in charachters?
