If I only set the month and date of my birthday on Facebook as public but not allow others to see the year...?

...will they still know and be notified that it's my birthday, or does the complete birthday (month, day, and year) all have to be visible on FB.

Basically what I'm asking is: I only set the month and date public to friends only (ex-May 30) but don't put up the year I was born, will my friends on FB still get notifications that it is my bday or does the whole date (month, day, and year) have to be set for them to view??
