PC Skyrim Xbox 360 Controller HELP?
I've always played Skryim on the 360 because I'm terrible at playing games on the PC but I got a really good deal on some games for the PC and so I bought Skryim. HOWEVER I'm still terrible at playing with the mouse and its more frustrating than anything. So I looked up that you can play on the pc with your 360 controller and got all excited only to plug in my controller and find that it just won't work. I have a wired controller but when I plug it in I don't get any pop ups or anything, and every time I turn on my controller instead of connecting to my computer it just turns my xbox on. Can anyone help me please?? I really want to play this game without throwing my laptop at a wall and there is no help i can find on the internet. Everybody says "just plug it in!"
Can somebody give me an answer thats actually helpful please?? I'm just extremely frustrated.

OH AND IF YOU SAY "DONT USE A CONTROLLER JUST USE THE MOUSE" I WILL STRANGLE YOU WITH MY XBOX CORD

THANKS

Go into your devices from control panel and make sure its actually picking up. If not you may have a screwed up wire or connection. You MAY (I don't see why because usually its already instantly compatible as soon as you plug it in) need to google about a driver for it in order to be able to use it. I had to do that with my Dualshock 4 for a custom driver, but still I don't see why its not working like it should your 360 controller that is. 'fraid that's all I can really answer with just because of the fact that I've never heard of this problem arise if its not regarding a connection issue.

Installing the Xbox 360 Controller to PC Skyrim:

Just plug it in and enable it in the Game Options. If you find anything iffy with it, just download the "Xbox 360 controller For Windows" driver. What you do is, remove the controller, install the driver and then plug it in. It'll work flawlessly.

It's just plug an play, I've been using an xbox controller myself, got tired of kb/m. I plugged it in mid-game, it recognized it immediately and swapped controls to the controller. It even changed prompts and explained how to lock pick with the controller. It's been completely seamless so far.

You cannot do it Wirreless you must Connect with the cable.

Sounds like you don't have a proper wired controller - you have a standard wireless controller and a plug and play charging kit. That's why it can turn on your console even if it's plugged into your PC - a wired controller gets turned on automatically when you plug it into a PC's USB. The cable in that charging kit only carries power to the battery and has no connection to the controller circuits themselves. Sorry, you're stuck unless you invest in a proper wired controller.
