Do I get slammed by the most retarded emails constantly from people requesting Farmville gifts, wanting me to do yoville, suggesting this ap and that ap. It seems all people do on there is take surveys and play aps. I don't do aps and it's getting annoying. What the hell is Mafia wars anyway?

I joined FB because everyone said it was Myspace's older brother, but it seems pretty childlike and app obsessed to me. Where do ppl get that FB is more mature? I rarely get ppl harassing me to take some retarded survey to suggesting some silly app on myspace. Where did this come from and do you agree? Why or why not?

I agree with you to an extent. It's clear Facebook is predominately comprised of older people, thus, for the most part, more mature people. But let's face it; we all want to play games while we're catching up on people. The thing is, though, is that on Myspace, you get all sorts of unwanted friend requests and scams and small bands trying to make it big. With Facebook, you get your friends and only your friends. There's no music playlist to edit, no inappropriate bulletins you have to put up with.

Well, I've never personally heard of Facebook being Myspace's big brother. However, I must say that I do like Facebook much better than Myspace. Perhaps it's for the reasons people call Facebook the older brother. Here are my reasons: 1) Facebook doesn't allow people to use custom HTML or CSS to customize the appearance of their pages. This is good because most Myspace pages look pretty bad as most people aren't designers (even though some may think they are), the pages are hard to read (text color does not contrast from background enough to read or something on the background is flashing or whatever), and many times you have terrible music blaring on the page that you desperately try to find the mute or stop button for before it actually plays (or at least I do so that it doesn't interfere with my music or destroy my ears if wearing headphones). With Facebook, the pages are much cleaner and easy to read. You don't have to worry about someone having a seizure just from looking at a profile page that is flashing all over the place.

2) Myspace has more bots. I can't tell you how many fake people I've had add me on there. On Facebook, you have much fewer bots that are running around.

3) A lot of people like Facebook, including me, because most people use it as the preferred networking site. It's easiest to connect to people on Facebook.

4) A short history: Facebook was originally developed for college and business networks and has since expanded so that everyone can use it. Because of its roots in how it was founded and started, it gained popularity and that's probably why it's so popular today. Thus, probably why people say it's the "big brother" to Myspace. Apps and surveys were not a part of the original Facebook. These have come from the expansion to everyone.

Hopefully that helps.
