Who else thinks facebook is a big hoax?

I can't help but feel like this whole facebook deal was created to profile people for unknown reasons. Everyone talks about Oh I should quit facebook because of privacy changes and this and that. Those are stupid reasons. It's already been established that they do whatever they want with your info. What I would be really worried about is not who they share our stupid posts with, but why do they want soooo much information from us...? I mean everyday it's more and more they want and they want us to connect us to all of our email accounts and every other website we go to.It's rediculous they're tracking peoples every move these days. Why is the founder still trying to make this thing more invading than it already is. I mean he's filthy rich, why not find something else to do man.
These are just theories of mine but does anyone else have a feeling that there's a secret group that created facebook and designed it so that eventually the whole world would voluntarily join and give these secret groups a way to profile you for some reason. Maybe another round up of undesireables or something along those lines.
Sure you can delete posts and what not but do you really think they don't have archives of every single thing you've ever done on facebook? I don't like it, it's getting to be rediculous but they've got everyone by the balls because no one will give it up.
Just wanted to get some opinions because whenever you google search for this topic, everyone is talking about privacy issues. Bottom Line, We have no privacy from the people who run f book. They know everything about us, and want to know more. They say all this extra Bull shit is for marketing which i'm sure it is but what else do they want???? Also it's like they are just dying for us to add anyone and everyone we've ever known. It's like, chill out f book. We don't need all these stupid suggestions all the dam time. If we want to find someone it's very simple to do on our own.
Well like I said these are just thoughts. And it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what I mean when I say Hoax.
Anyway I just wondered if anyone shares my concern. It seems like the only reply's so far are f book supporters.
Almost seems like a couple of the comments might be folks that work for fbook and scan the web for comments and then try to discredit anyone who has a negative opinion of it. Everyone knows that our privacy is and has been invaded for a long time in many ways. but this is being done in a very tricky way right out in the open. and like I said it's not the privacy I'm worried about. It's why do they want to know your every move and or thought?
Anyway for those of you who say don't use f book if I don't like it. What would give you the impression that I'm still a user??

No one is forcing you to use Facebook. If you don't like it stay away from it.

I don't see Face Book as a hoax. Face Book is very much for real. It's a very good
way to keep in touch with family and friends. I found some of my relatives That I
had not hears from in 25 to 30 years. Now we are always in touch. I take it that you don't like Face Book. I believe you are just a little out numbered. I say if you
don't like it, then leave it. Nobody forces you to use Face book.

Wow. I think you should give up facebook. And take your pills. They ARE collecting information. This is NOT a secret. Everybody should know that by now.

People are free to decide whether or not that is acceptable to them. You may think the founder is a slimeball. But the explanation is simple. He's trying to make as much money as possible. You don't usually make money off of providing a free service, unless you figure out how to make others pay. That is why they compile data. It's about focused ads. Do I like it? Not necessarily, but I really don't give a ****. In this era, the illusion of privacy is absurd. I don't have to use facebook. My information is already out there.

Do you ever use Google? Do you have an Android phone? Ever looked at your house from space? How about Google Street View? You have no privacy. If facebook scares you that much, you should consider moving to Antarctica. I don't think Google has been there yet. I could be wrong about that though.

Also, I think you should learn the difference between "hoax" and "scam". Facebook exists. Even if everything you believed about it was true, it would further prove you wrong about it being a hoax. You meant "scam" or some other similar word.

I agree with you about Facebook. It is trying to take over all of the internet, and, make everyone using the internet, dependent on it. They do delete/deactivate accounts for no good reason and without any warning or details so that if you get cut off, you have no way of getting back in contact with your contacts online again unless you have their email addresses. I never did like that FB demands users to give their full names, and even there, FB has rejected users whose real names were or had some wel-known name within them.

It's all about monetization and I'm sure they do profile.

I'm only on Facebook because I tried so many different things in the past to get all my friends and family on one site or other without success. One liked IM better than AOL, another preferred Yahoogroups to Googlegroups, even Skype, like anyone could be bothered to add me when I put my username out there? and then Facebook came on the scene and suddenly everyone flocked to it in droves.

Maybe it was the word "Face" in the title, everybody loves pictures…Everyone but me, that is.

Then there's all the viral stuff. Ugh, don't get me started. ZYnga. 'Nuff said... According to an article at Geekolinks, FB and Zynga are going steady.

Super/fun/advanced wall/space? Good idea at first, but then people go and use it to spread virals instead of and along with the few of their own personally written posts. Gifting, leveling-up apps. More virals. No thanks. But this is where I think the monetization comes in big time.

I only use Facebook because I pretty much have to if I want to maintain any kind of contact with friends and family online. I don't want to lose contact with them. So I have no choice. Believe me, I wish there was a better option. The full name thing has one advantage, it does help you find friends and family if you haven't been able to before, but the disadvantage is the site owners have your info in their database, and if you don't want to be found by just anyone, you have to disable yourself from turning up in search results. That also means you won't be found by some other friends or family who are trying to find you to get back in touch.

The policy of sudden unreasonable account deletion of Facebook - I have a big problem with that.
