SEO is realistically a dead technology, anyone selling you SEO consultancy services etc are sell you false peace of mind. Most modern search engines have evolved beyond the need, for example Google doesn't need you to optimise your site, you could sign up to Google Webmaster tools if you are that paranoid but really there is no need.

As long as your site updates frequently and has Quality content and doesn't link outbound to any known spam or phishing sites that should be enough.
