Do you think this is possible?

I got an email notice that said "Here is the login information you requested" and it had a username and password. These belonged to my husband when he had a match. com account when we were separated 4 years ago. We get no other email from match.com

I asked my husband about it - thinking he had gone on there again. I was nice and patient. He swears he did not. He called match.com and they confirmed someone tried to log into his account and provided our email address to get the login information sent. They say they do not have the IP address of the person who was trying to login (this is what my husband says they said)

The login attempt was at 2 am, the same time the email came in. I know my husband was up in the middle of the night.

Now, my husband claims he is baffled by this. If what he says is true, in the middle of the night someone entered our exact email address into the match.com lost password page.

Is your husband at all tech smart? is he good with computers? Because anyone who spends a lot of time on computers and understands them wouldn't make a mistake like sending a dating site reset to a joint email account. If he's not all that tech smart then its pretty likely he's lying.

More than anything else though you should trust your own feelings. If it seems to you like he's lying then he probably is. You know him better than anyone else. If you really feel like it could just be a silly mistake then go with that. Either way your first impression of the situation is most likely the correct one. But if you go back and re-read the way you wrote your question, it seems like you already know the answer and you're just looking for someone to talk you out of it.

If it helps you can always remind yourself that I don't know you, in fact I'm probably some 12 year old kid in Russia who has no idea what he's talking about... if that makes you feel any better
