go to google adwords and look for keyword phrases regarding your subject matter.
lets say for arguments sake you sell childrens clothes. Now you have close to zero chance of getting to the top for the phrade childrens clothes or kids clothes. Using the google adwords tool you can see what kind of competition there is for that particular term - if the competition is low then it's worth writing the article - if it's high then it's pointless writing it as you have no chance of getting on the front page for that term. Obviously if it is too low then it also isn't worth writing as it will deliver you no traffic. Lets assume 200 / month are search for a particular term. If you can get 10th place - that will probably deliver 3% of the traffic - so 6 people per month your article could generate. If your article is on your site for 10 years and it remains in 10th position...that would be 720 visitors over the 10 years that article will deliver for free (taking aside your time to write an article). If you did google adwords - you are probably looking at a higher cost than that to get the same kind of visitors to you website. other basic tips would be keep headings short but to you keyword...only put one product on each page so you can concentrate all the keywords and descriptions to that product. get good quality backlinks to your website and internal pages. Link your internal pages where they are related to one another. |
