Do these games really require internet connection?

I was shopping at Origin lately, when I read system requirements for Dead Space 3, Mass Effect 3 and Mirror's Edge. The system requirements say "internet connection required to play". Is it only for multiplayer or do you need internet all the time even when playing single-player campaigns?

Yes it is for multiplayer (ex. for mass effect 3, you can choose cooperative multiplayer where you can play the game with another online player or other modes but internet connection is required). Nonetheless you can play the campaign w/o having internet.

forgot to add:
-before you can play the multiplayer feature, you need to have the latest patch(needs internet)
