I can't delete my firefox history?

Firefox is running really slow and I read that deleting the history will help with it. Well I haven't delete my history since I started using Firefox last year, so there is a TON to delete. When I try to delete it, though, it makes Firefox not respond, so I have to close it. I think it's just way too much to delete, but I can't do everything one at a time, that'd take a lifetime. So, how should I do this?

It doesn't respond because it's busy deleting...just let it run.

Install a software like ccleaner that does it for you.

You can entirely wipe out the history with a click of a button. Just click 'Firefox' in orange located at the top left corner. Then click 'History' and press 'Clear Recent History'. Choose 'Everything' and then 'Clear Now' and ta-da, you're done!
