The Internet, Broadband and Ethernet lights on my Technicolor router continuously flash.?
My Internet works just fine but the 3 lights are always flashing which means data is transferring. I recently got a Three Signal Booster to better my signal in my house and that runs off the Wifi via ethernet. But because all of these lights are flashing I don't think my router is even acknowledging that the booster is connected as it isn't working at all and when I tried to add my phone number to te box I got a text from Three saying "Sorry, you don't have a home signal box so we can't update your contacts." which is rubbish because its plugged in right now. What can I do??

Hi the adsl router has to keep itself on line 24/7 so it has a built in polling system. the signal from the telephone exchange is constantly polling your router to make sure it is still there.
as to configuring your router to add other wireless applications that comes down to you to do with a SSID for the router and it's hexdecimal pass word without which it does not connect. attached to most routers with wifi is a tag which tells you this information, if it does not have some sort of tag it does not have wifi buit so an additional wireless router could be added via the ethernet cable or a new router with wifi... as a telecommunications engineer this is what so many don't get. Your router's lights are flashing because data is being sent. That's normal.
Your three home signal does NOT work from your "WiFi". It works via an ethernet connection to your router, and broadcasts a 3G signal in your home for your phone to use. If it's not working you need to call 3 customer services on 333. |
