Hi, can anyone tell me how to do realy simple SEO?
I recently made a website for someone and need to do some simple search engine optimisation. I've been a web editor for a big radio station for a while now but I've never had to do SEO before. Basically they just need to be able to find their site in google and yahoo... There is a "submit to search engine" thing on the web hosts site too.

Hi there,

Here are a few things you want to do:
1. Title tags <title>x</title>: put keyword rich text in the title. Don't over do it!
2. Content (make sure the keyword that you are targeting is on the page a couple of times (density of 3%).
3. META tags (easy to do but overrated but you still want to do it) add <META name = "keywords" content=""/><META name="description" content=""> to your pages.
4. Anchor text (<a>) make sure you link to other pages with relevant keywords, and link back with keywords that you want to target your site.
5. Articles (link building): link building is important. You can try the easy way by writing an article and submit to eZines (articledashboard.com).

Also use a tool se-inspector.com to walk you through the process.

I hope this helps.

I suggest you do article marketing.. or make articles and submit to directories.
benefits:
*Once you have submitted articles to directories you have done one way link back to your site.
*visitors will click the link you provide in your bio and resource box and they get to visit your site.

First thing, is to tell the search engine what the site is about.
for the most simple SEO, you should make sure that you content in your meta tags.
Meta title and meta description are the most important.
see this link on how to create meta tags
http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_meta.asp
Write content for each page in these meta tags that is relevant to that page.
see examples of sites that are similar to the one you have built.
