Connection problems with black ops 2 multi on ps3?

Every game I join I have a solid 1 bar connection. My nat is type 2 and it says it's open. Even playing with my friends who live in a town less than half an hour from me is laggy as hell.

Ive tried port forwarding to no success. I tried giving my ps3 a static ip address and added it in the dmz settings on my router. That helped a bit but when I do that the internet doesn't work on other devices. I've tweaked every setting in my firewall options relating to wireless devices. Everything the internet says I should do doesn't work.

I started having these issues after a friend of my uncle's reboot our computer and installed windows 7 (I had vista before). Wtf is going on and how do I fix it?
When I restart my modem and router it works great for like one match then it craps out again.

From what you've written so far, it sounds live you've done pretty much everything you weren't supposed to do, or at least things you were supposed to do incorrectly.

NEVER put your PS3 in a DMZ; there's nothing worse you can do.

If you're showing a NAT 2, that means that your PS3 is communicating properly over the 'net with other PS3's; the only problem is that you're not generating enough signal, and there's a lot of reasons for that, but primarily it comes down to hardware and signal input-output.

If your Modem/Router is older than 3 years old, they're too old for modern networks and game servers for them to get the best speed you can, particularly if you're using the PS3's wireless adapter, which is wireless G. If your wireless signal from you PS3 to the Router is weak, that's one reason you're getting a crap signal i the BO2 lobby.

If it started happening after a new system install, the likely scenario is that the new system is taking up more bandwidth and Router priority/requests and it's drowning out your PS3's game stream. Unless you prioritized your PS3 for priority access to the Router, it'll always be behind in access request priority; you need to set your Router up for Quality of Service so that your PS3 has priority.

Essentially what it comes down to is that you're dealing with several issues, and not just one. Read through my long post on LAN setup for a PS3; there are some good suggestions and procedures on how to set your LAN up for optimum speed and signal.

If you're using old hardware, here's my 2 suggestions for a Router and Modem:

Modem - Motorola SB6121 or SB6141 -there are no better modems for speed on the market.

Router - Linksys EA6500 or EA6900.

Bridge - Depending on the Router, get a wireless bridge so that you can get the most out of wifi, effectively bypassing your PS3's wifi adapter and connecting at AC or N speeds (e.g. Linksys WET610N).

You can also just try a Lagbuster (Sejent.com) but from your description, you need more help than an LB to help your PS3's game stream get past the Router.
